China wins month of November ahead of Japan, USA
China won a high-scoring, hotly contested month of November in the Global Cup, in which the top four teams (see table below) finished within 175 points of each other.
Victory in the Weightlifting World Championships and third place in the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, among other results, gave China the edge over Japan, winner of the Karate World Championship. They were followed by the USA, winner of the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, and Russia.
It was also a successful month for Iran, second at the Karate World Championships and sixth at the Weightlifting World Championships, and for Davis Cup (Tennis) winner Croatia, whose autumn surge means they are edging closer to ousting Norway from the top spot in the Per Capita Cup, the ranking of the world’s sportiest nations.
