September Results: Japan’s Judokas Score Ippon
Japan came first in the month of September in the 2017 Global Cup, the ranking of the world's best sporting nations. They scored 394 points after a dominant performance at the Judo World Championships which they won with 353 points. (Japan also scored 20 points at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships, 6 points at the Modern Pentathlon World Championships and 15 points at the Berlin Marathon.)
The USA came second with 305 points after scoring points across nine sports including winning Tennis after a strong performance at the US Open (where all four women semi-finalists were American.)
Russia finished third with 268 points after scoring points across eight sports including winning the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships.
France (who won the Mountain Bike World Championships), Cuba (who won the Amateur Boxing World Championships), the Netherlands (who won the Road Cycling World Championships), Uzbekistan, South Korea, Great Britain and Mongolia rounded out the Top Ten for the month.
