June was a month of major summer tournaments, and a major month for the USA, which edged Norway at the top of the Global Cup, the ranking of the world’s best sporting nations, for the first time this year.

The USA won June’s monthly ranking thanks to strong performances in Golf (scoring 166 points in the US Open and the LPGA Championship), Tennis and Archery (scoring 150 points at the Outdoor World Championships).
South Korea too put up a powerful performance in Golf and especially Archery, winning the Outdoor World Championships with 17.8% of the points, ahead of the USA with 12.8% and Taiwan with 11.9%.

The Netherlands, Great Britain and Portugal followed South Korea in the monthly ranking, chiefly thanks to their footballing prowess, finishing respectively second, third and first in the men’s UEFA Nations League 2018-19, whose finals were played in Portugal.

The full ranking for the month of June, which also saw action in, among others, Rugby Union (the Rugby Sevens World Series, won by the USA) and Road Cycling (the Giro d’Italia, won by Ecuador) is below. Please note that at the time of publication, the June results were not reflected in the tables on the GSN site.
