Huge month, huge gains

Kiprop and Kiplagat of Kenya
September 2011 has been the biggest month in the sporting year.
A record 23.247 points were awarded, almost exactly half of the points (51.111) awarded in 2011 until August.
93 countries scored points in the month, another record, and it’s always good to see tiny nations like St. Kitts & Nevis, for example, scoring points: 108 pts in fact, placing the Caribbeans in 45th place in the month.
The big event was of course the World Athletics Championships in Daegu (South Korea), and it lived up to its expectations, with numerous countries hitherto in the shade winning big and reaching high up in the sunshine of the Global Cup rankings.
