South Africa wins November after triumph in Rugby World Cup

South Africa beat England in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final

Three sports took centre-stage in November: Rugby Union, with the men’s World Cup; Tennis, with, among others, the Federation Cup and Davis Cup finals;

and Shooting, with the final events in the annual rifle and pistol World Cup.

South Africa took the biggest prize, winning the Rugby World Cup, and the 400 GSN points that come with the Web Ellis trophy. It was a record-equalling third victory for South Africa in the tournament, putting the country at the top of the monthly Global Cup ranking (see below for the full monthly table).

Great Britain, thanks to England’s runner-up spot in the Rugby World Cup and a semi-final berth in the Davis Cup, came second in the month, ahead of three other nations that did well at the Rugby World Cup: New Zealand, France and Australia.

China won the rifle and pistol Shooting World Cup convincingly, ahead of India and South Korea, cementing its position at the top of the sport’s annual leaderboard.

Finally, a mention for Kenya, whose runners won gold and silver in both the men’s and women’s races at the New York Marathon, propelling the African nation to seventh in the monthly ranking.

Please note that the November monthly results weren’t yet reflected in the GSN tables at the time of publication.
